The WIC Program
WIC stands for Women, Infants, and Children

program is a federally funded program which provides supplemental foods
which promote good health for pregnant, breastfeeding & postpartum
women, infants & children up to age five (5):

2. Post partum mothers (up to six months);
3. Breastfeeding mothers (up to one year);
4. Infants;

WIC strives to improve the health of participants by providing individual
health and nutrition assessments. Participants receive food instruments
to redeem at local stores for foods that are high in vitamins and minerals.
Participants must provide proof of residency in Calhoun County, are at
nutritional risk, and meet our liberal income guidelines. (See income

Annual FCS income guidelines for the WIC program
were obtained by multiplying the annual federal poverty guidelines
and increment for each additional family member by 1.85 and rounding
the results as necessary. Monthly (weekly) income guidelines for
the WIC program were obtained by multiplying the federal guidelines/increment
by 1.85, dividing by 12 (52), and rounding the results upward
as necessary.

The above guidelines reflect 185% of poverty
and meet the requirements of the 7CFR, part 246 (AMDT.3).
